Tasked with planning a major corporate event for the first time?  Don’t panic, the experts at WPI Events will help make your event go smoothly, with that extra Wow! factor our expertise and experience helps us provide.

As you get started, here are some of our top tips for planning your next big event:

Get the Basics First

Any good plan needs to have some basic information to go off of.  Remember the five Ws – who, what, where, when and why.  What’s the budget?  How many people will attend?  What sort of venue do you require?  What’s the ultimate goal of the event?  You’d be surprised how many people start planning without clear answers to these questions, and that just leads to headaches down the line.

Location, Location, Location

The right location can make all the difference between successful events and forgettable ones.  Think about what your location needs for your event – what sort of equipment and facilities – but don’t forget to take into account logistical issues like transportation as well.  Your event can’t go off if people can’t easily get there!

Check the Calendar

If your event will attract people from outside your own company, check the calendar for scheduling conflicts.  You’d hate to run a big trade show, only to find that another big industry event was happening on the same weekend.  Be aware of big days, including holidays and other common social days (i.e., Super Bowl Sunday or big civic events); these can impact the attendance and logistics of your event.
